What 뚦 means
Use a Korean 2-set keyboard: ShiftE, N, F, A.
With Korean input active, ShiftE produces ㄸ, N produces ㅜ, F produces ㄹ, and A produces ㅁ; the input method combines ㄹㅁ as final ㄻ. If the parts stay separate, check that Hangul composition is enabled and the active layout is 2-set.
What does 뚦 mean by itself?
By itself, it identifies a syllable, not a whole message.
“ddulm” is the Latin-letter label for this block, not a translation of a Korean word. Its Hangul parts, called jamo, are ㄸ ㅜ ㄹㅁ (conjoining forms ᄄ ᅮ ᆱ). The full Korean word supplies the syllable’s lexical meaning.
The modern Hangul syllable inventory stored as single characters follows the Johab set from Korea’s KS C 5601 character standard, adopted in 1992. This explains the bundled block design, not a separate symbolic meaning for 뚦.
Why does 뚦 show as a box?
The active font may not contain a glyph for it.
Hangul syllables place their consonant and vowel parts inside a square-shaped block, and typefaces vary in spacing and stroke proportions. An empty box means the active font and its fallback lack a usable glyph; it does not change the text character.
Neutral in Korean writing; opaque to readers who cannot read Hangul.
