What 뎉 means

It makes sense as one part of a Korean word.

If someone sends only this block, it gives no clear message or reaction; the surrounding Korean word or sentence supplies its meaning.

The Unicode name’s “det” is a construction label for the letters ᄃ + ᅦ + ᇀ, not an English translation.

How do I type 뎉?

A Korean IME combines its three component letters.

On a Korean keyboard, enter ㄷ, ㅔ, then ㅌ; the input method editor (IME) combines them into one block. Text processing can expose the canonical jamo sequence instead; Unicode NFC, a standard text-normalization form, composes it as the precomposed syllable.

How did Hangul develop?

Hangul is a Korean writing system whose letters combine into syllable blocks.

The earliest surviving Korean official-history record dates Hangul’s creation to 1443. The 1446 book Hunminjeongeum explains the new writing system’s purpose and design.

Hangul was designed to make writing Korean more accessible than relying on Chinese characters. It spread through Buddhist scriptures, practical and literary books, correspondence, and official writing; it became an official national writing system in 1894. Modern syllable blocks group Korean letters, called jamo, into one written unit. 뎉 follows that regular pattern rather than being an independently devised sign; historical Korean texts can also show jamo separately.

Neutral in Korean writing; any conversational tone comes from the surrounding word and sentence.

Why does 뎉 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
