What 됱 means
Its role depends on the Korean word that contains it.
Hangul was designed to make Korean easier to read and write. Its first recorded creation notice dates to 1443; the 1446 Hunminjeongeum book explained its purpose and design. Older systems Idu, Gugyeol and Hyangchal adapted Chinese characters for Korean but did not shape this block. Hangul spread through private, religious and practical writing; officials adopted it in 1894.
