Hangul syllable Dyeols

1945/11172

뎘 is a Hangul syllable block made from three letter parts. You may encounter it in Korean text or while checking how Hangul blocks are assembled. “Dyeols” describes its construction rather than translating a word.

Text symbol

What 뎘 means

It combines an initial consonant, a vowel, and a final consonant cluster.

The parts are ㄷ ㅕ ㄽ; “dyeols” is their Latin-letter label, not a word translation.

Hangul was created in 1443 so Korean speakers could write their language without first mastering Chinese characters. Hunminjeongeum, a guide explaining the new writing system, appeared in 1446. Earlier Korean writing methods, including Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal, used Chinese characters in different ways to record Korean. Hangul later became the standard script for Korean.
