What 각 means

The whole Korean word distinguishes them. 각자 and 각각 use 各, a Chinese character used in Korean, for “each”; 각도 uses 角 for “angle.”

Where did Hangul come from?

Hangul was designed to write Korean speech. It is recorded in 1443; the 1446 book 훈민정음 explains it.

During the Joseon period, Hangul spread through letters, petitions, and literature. A 2009 study proposes Phags-pa influence on Hangul’s design, not a direct ancestor for 각.

A Hangul font displays 각 as text.

Alone, 각 cannot tell you whether the word means “each” or “angle.”

Questions people ask

1

Why does 각 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
