What 감 means
It depends on the word. 감 can mean “feeling” or “sense,” written with 感, a Chinese character used in Korean; it also means “persimmon.” In 감을 잡다, it means “get a feel for the situation.”
Hangul was created in 1443 because writing Korean with Chinese characters did not represent the language well; a 1446 book explained its purpose and principles. Earlier methods called Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal also adapted Chinese characters to Korean.

Questions people ask
1Why can 감 split into parts?
Hangul can store a syllable as one precomposed block or as jamo, letters that build syllables. Decomposition exposes the letters in storage; it may still display as one block.
