What 꼼 means
It gets meaning from the Korean word around it. The doubled form 꼼꼼 is an ordinary word for careful, thorough work; one 꼼 alone is not an abbreviation, reaction, or emoji.
Hangul was made to fit Korean speech, with letters grouped into syllable blocks of initial, vowel, and optional final sounds. The documented trail records 1443 and 1446: creation, then an explanatory book. As of 2026, no separate origin story or standalone meaning shift for 꼼 appears in the sources checked.
A font draws the block, but text can store it either as one precomposed syllable or as conjoining jamo. If search or input behaves oddly, normalization — not a change in meaning — is the first thing to check.

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
