What 고 means

Its role depends on where it appears. The ending -고 can list actions or put them in sequence.

Hangul was devised in Korea to write Korean speech without relying on Chinese characters. Its creation is recorded in December 1443; the Hunminjeongeum document explained its principles in 1446.

Unicode treats 고 and ᄀ + ᅩ as equivalent forms: one syllable block or two joining letters.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 고 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
