What 굇 means
On its own, 굇 does not name a Korean word.
Unicode’s component label “Goes” comes from the Hangul parts; it is not the English verb or a Korean translation. This block puts ㄱ at the start, ㅚ in the middle, and ㅅ at the end. The complete Korean word supplies the meaning.
The court recorded Hangul’s creation in 1443; in 1446 it published Hunminjeongeum, a guide to the script’s principles and use. Hangul let Korean be written directly. Earlier methods—이두, 구결, and 향찰—adapted Chinese characters to write Korean, but had limits. The script had court backing, faced resistance from some elites, and became the standard way to write Korean.
How do I type 굇?
Use a Korean input method: ㄱ ㅚ ㅅ.
On the standard Korean two-set keyboard, type r, h, l, t. The input method maps those keys to ㄱ, ㅗ, ㅣ, and ㅅ, combining ㅗ and ㅣ into ㅚ as it assembles 굇.
On a phone, switch to Korean input and tap the same jamo sequence. With only a Latin layout active, typing “goes” produces letters.
Why can 굇 look different across fonts?
The font changes the drawing, not the character.
Hangul syllables combine an initial consonant, a vowel, and sometimes a final consonant in one block. Fonts can draw those parts with different shapes and spacing, so 굇 may look heavier or narrower. Unicode’s reference glyph does not require every font to match it.
The final ㅅ occupies the final-consonant position, called 받침. Korean pronunciation rules can change how a final consonant sounds beside the next syllable; “Goes” is a component label, not a guide to pronouncing a Korean word.
Neutral inside Korean spelling; unusual alone in a message because it does not identify a word.
Do not read Unicode’s “Goes” label as an English word or translation.

굇\AD47Why is 굇 a box on my screen?
fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.

A visible symbol can contain several code points. JS .length counts UTF-16 units; UTF-8 counts bytes.
