hangul syllable gulp

Hangul syllable Gulp

굺 is one Korean Hangul syllable block, built from an initial consonant, a vowel, and a final consonant cluster. The Latin label “gulp” names those parts; it is not an English drinking reaction. Sent alone, it reads as an unexplained Korean fragment, so ask what text was intended.

What 굺 means

It is one Hangul block, not a ready-made reaction. Hangul is the Korean writing system, and its letters are called jamo. 굺 combines initial consonant ㄱ, vowel ㅜ, and final consonant cluster ㄿ. The Latin label “gulp” joins component labels g, u, and lp; it does not mean the English drinking word.

As of September 2026, a lone 굺 had no established word, emoji-style, or chat-shorthand meaning. If someone sends it alone, treat it as an unclear Korean text fragment and ask what they intended.

Why does Hangul use syllable blocks?

They group Korean consonants and vowels into compact syllable units. Hangul was developed under King Sejong in 1443; an explanatory book called Hunminjeongeum appeared in 1446. The system gave Korean a direct way to write its sounds.

Earlier Korean writing practices such as Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal adapted Chinese characters to represent Korean sounds and grammar. They belong to Hangul’s history, but are not alternate forms or meanings of 굺.

How do I type 굺?

With Korean Dubeolsik, enter the jamo in order. Switch the input language to Korean and press r, n, f, v. The input method combines ㄱ + ㅜ + ㄹ + ㅍ as 굺; the final ㄹ and ㅍ form cluster ㄿ.

Fonts can place the component jamo differently inside the square block. A precomposed block and its decomposed jamo sequence can be equivalent in text processing; a changed internal drawing alone does not mean the text has changed.

Neutral as a Hangul text block; on its own, it reads as an unexplained fragment.

The Latin label “gulp” names Hangul parts; it is not an English drinking reaction.

Why does 굺 look different in different fonts?

The font changes the drawing: it may position the jamo differently inside the syllable cell while the encoded character stays the same.

Why did my Korean keyboard leave separate letters?

The Korean input method has not composed the jamo yet. Confirm Korean input is active, then finish the composition with your app’s usual input method.
