What 겮 means
As of September 2026, 겮 has no established standalone Korean word meaning.
The label gyeonh describes the block's components, not the meaning of a Korean word. It combines ㄱ as its initial jamo (Hangul letter component), ㅕ as its vowel, and ㄶ as its final jamo.
The guide to Hangul called Hunminjeongeum was published in 1446. It explains a writing system designed for Korean speech and shows how syllables use initial, middle, and final positions. 겮 is one combination in that system.
What if someone sends 겮?
Read it as one Hangul syllable; context gives its role.
By itself, it gives too little context to translate. In a Korean sentence, read the surrounding words; in a font or input report, it may simply be the exact character being tested.
Why does 겮 split into jamo?
The block can be stored as separate jamo.
Unicode defines precomposed Hangul syllables and their canonical decompositions into jamo. These forms are equivalent for text processing; normalization can expose ㄱ, ㅕ, and ㄶ as separate pieces.
An app may reveal those separate parts in storage or display. If they stay separate, a Korean IME or NFC normalization can recompose the block.
Technical in isolation; in a Korean sentence, its role depends on the surrounding text.

1Why does 겮 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
