Hangul syllable 긦

551/11172

To type 긦, enter ㄱ ㅢ ㅄ in a Korean input method editor (IME); it joins them into one Hangul syllable block. Its consonants and vowel are Korean jamo, the letters that build syllables. The block can also appear as separate parts when text is decomposed or a font draws it differently.

What 긦 means

Enter ㄱ ㅢ ㅄ in a Korean IME. A Korean input method editor combines the initial consonant ㄱ, vowel ㅢ, and final cluster ㅄ into one Hangul syllable block. Jamo are the Korean consonant and vowel letters that build syllables.

If a text field leaves the parts separate, use a character picker that inserts 긦 as one character. Keyboard layouts differ, so these jamo are input components, not universal key names.

Does 긦 mean anything by itself?

As of 2026-09-13, it has no established standalone chat meaning. 긦 is a Hangul syllable block, with Korean consonant and vowel letters written together. Sent alone, it does not give a reader a reliable mood to infer.

The 28-letter Hangul system was recorded in 1443, and the explanatory book Hunminjeongeum followed in 1446. Hangul was created because Chinese characters and Korean writing practices built around them were difficult for many Koreans to learn. Over time, its new alphabetic system became the everyday way to write Korean.

Why does 긦 look different?

Different storage and font drawing can change its appearance. Hangul can store a syllable as one combined character or as the equivalent sequence 긦. Fonts may shift the parts’ placement, shape, or size without changing the syllable.

If an editor shows or stores 긦 as separate letters, those are the component jamo for the same syllable as 긦.

Technical and linguistic; it reads as a Hangul syllable sample, not an ordinary reaction.

By itself, it gives the reader no reliable mood to infer.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 긦 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
