What 했 means
It comes from 하다, “to do,” plus a past ending. In Korean, the polite past form 하였어요 contracts to 했어요: 했 marks the past, and 어요 makes it polite.
Hangul, the Korean writing system, was designed for Korean speech. An early notice of the script dates to 1443; the explanatory book Hunminjeongeum appeared in 1446. Each block combines consonant and vowel letters: ㅎ is the initial, ㅐ the vowel, and ㅆ the final.
What does 했어 mean?
했어 means “did”; context supplies the subject. With a question mark, 했어? can ask “Did you do it?”; 했어요 says the same action politely.
If a message ends at 했, its verb may be incomplete; use the surrounding sentence to identify the action.

Questions people ask
1Why does 했 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
