Text symbol

What 휨 means

It is the noun for bending or deflection.

Korean removes the verb ending from 휘다 (“to bend”) to get 휘-, then adds ㅁ to form the noun.

Hangul’s consonant and vowel letters form syllable blocks: 휨 ㅎ ㅟ ㅁ. The alphabet was devised in 1443 to write Korean speech in a system that was easier to learn. One disputed reading treats a 1446 record as marking completion of its guide to the letters.

Neutral Korean word; also used in structural engineering.
