What 젴 means
It forms one Korean syllable; context supplies its word meaning. The block combines ㅈ as its initial consonant, ㅔ as its vowel, and ㅋ as its final consonant. At a syllable’s end, ㅋ closes the sound like k without an audible release.
Hangul was devised to write Korean by assembling consonant and vowel letters into syllable blocks. The script is documented from 1443 and its design is explained in the 1446 book Hunminjeongeum. Other names for the writing system include eonmun, gukmun, gukseo, and Hangeul; they name the script, not a special meaning of 젴.
