hangul syllable jjweon

Hangul syllable jjweon

8041/11172

The meaning of 쭨 depends on the Korean word around it: by itself, this Hangul syllable block does not identify a particular word. It combines three jamo, the letters used to build Korean syllable blocks. Sejong created Hangul in 1443 as a simpler way to write Korean than with Chinese characters. The 1446 Hunminjeongeum explained its design and purpose.

What 쭨 means

It is a syllable block; the surrounding Korean word supplies the meaning.

Hangul joins letters into blocks: 쭨 combines ᄍ, ᅯ and ᆫ, jamo for its initial consonant, vowel and final consonant. Fonts can arrange these parts differently inside the block without changing the character.
