What 쩈 means
Press ShiftW, ShiftO, then Z on Korean 2-set.
Those QWERTY keys enter ㅉ, ㅒ, and final ㅋ; a Korean input method editor (IME) combines them into one block. Typing the romanized spelling jjyaek will not produce this block on a standard 2-set layout; it works only with an input method set to convert romanization.
If you type a vowel next, the input method can shift the waiting final consonant ㅋ into the next block. Hangul is assembled as you type, so the display can reshape while the input method settles the syllable boundary.
What does 쩈 mean by itself?
By itself, 쩈 is one Korean syllable, not a complete word. Read it as part of the Korean word it belongs to; the surrounding word gives the syllable its meaning.
Hangul was designed to represent Korean speech and explain how sounds, letters, and syllable positions combine. Its creation was recorded in 1443, and an explanatory book was published in 1446. Hangul’s basic letters are called jamo. They are grouped into blocks by syllable, as in 쩈.
Software can store the same syllable as one prebuilt character or as separate jamo, and text systems can treat these equivalent forms consistently. Fonts may still vary the jamo’s shape, size, and placement within the block.
Neutral within Korean spelling; its social tone depends on the full word.

Questions people ask
1Why does 쩈 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
