What 쨵 means
It writes a syllable; it does not identify a word by itself. 쨵 decomposes into ᄍ ᅤ ᆬ: an initial consonant, a vowel, and a final consonant cluster. These component letters are called jamo. The label “Jjyaenj” is built from those components; it is not a translation of a Korean word.
Hangul began as a practical writing system
Hangul was devised under King Sejong in 1443 and explained in 1446 in Hunminjeongeum Haerye, a guide to its new letters. Its stated purpose was to make Korean writing easier for ordinary people; earlier practices relied on Chinese characters, which were not a straightforward fit for Korean speech.
Earlier methods such as Idu adapted Chinese characters to write Korean. Idu is part of the history of how Koreans wrote their language, but it did not supply Hangul’s letter shapes.
Hangul met resistance from some elite officials, yet women and commoners used it for everyday writing. During the Japanese colonial period, preserving Korean language and writing became tied to cultural and national identity.
