Hangul Syllable Jwej

7499/11172

쥊 is a Hangul syllable block used to write Korean; by itself, it has no stable message meaning. A Korean word supplies its meaning, and a one-character send is best read as a fragment. On a standard Korean 2-set keyboard, an input method composes it from wnpw.

What 쥊 means

It is one syllable block in Korean writing.

A Hangul block combines consonant and vowel jamo—the component letters used to spell Korean—into one written unit. The syllable has no fixed meaning on its own; in a word, the surrounding syllables give it one. Here, ㅈ starts and ends the block, with the vowel ㅞ between them.

Hangul was created because Chinese writing did not fit Korean speech well, with the stated aim of helping people learn to read. The first record of Hunminjeongeum, the script's original name, is dated to 1443; an explanatory book under that name was published in 1446. The Joseon Language Society began publishing a journal called Hangeul in 1927. In 1928, the holiday marking the script was renamed Hangeulnal, after which Hangeul became widely used as the script's name.

Someone sent me 쥊—what does it mean?

Alone, it is a fragment with no reliable message reading.

Read an isolated send as one Korean syllable or a text fragment. The block alone does not tell you whether the sender meant a mood, joke, slang term, or reaction; ask for the surrounding Korean text.

How do I type 쥊?

Use a Korean input method and enter the jamo in order.

On a standard Korean 2-set QWERTY layout, the keyboard sequence for this jwej block is wnpw: w enters initial ㅈ, n enters ㅜ, p enters ㅔ, and the last w adds final ㅈ. The input method combines ㅜ ㅔ into ㅞ and builds one block. The Latin transcription jwej names the syllable; it is not the key sequence.

With Korean input turned off, wnpw stays Latin letters. If 쥊 appears as an empty square, the font likely lacks that Hangul glyph; changing emoji settings will not fix missing font coverage.

Neutral as Korean writing; sent alone, it reads like a fragment unless the reader knows Hangul.

An isolated 쥊 does not identify a mood or reaction.

Why does 쥊 show as a square?

It is usually a font coverage problem. Use a font with Korean Hangul support; changing emoji settings will not repair a missing text glyph.
