Hangul Syllable Jwelt

7490/11172

쥁 is a syllable block in Hangul, the Korean alphabet; its reading comes from the word it belongs to. A Korean IME can build it from the jamo (Korean letters) ㅈ ㅞ ㄾ; NFC can recompose eligible decomposed input.

What 쥁 means

As of 2026, 쥁 has no established standalone word or message meaning. Read it as one syllable inside the Korean word it belongs to.

Hangul is the Korean alphabet: its letters combine into syllable blocks with an initial consonant, a vowel, and sometimes a final consonant. The earliest recorded reference to Hangul's creation is dated 1443; the explanatory book Hunminjeongeum followed in 1446.

Here, ㅈ is the initial consonant, ㅞ the vowel, and ㄾ the final consonant cluster. These Korean letter components are called jamo.

How do I type 쥁?

A Korean IME joins ㅈ ㅞ ㄾ. An IME is the keyboard software that enters Korean; with Hangul input enabled, enter that sequence.

Unicode may also store the same Korean spelling as decomposed jamo. NFC (Unicode's composed normalization form) recomposes eligible sequences into this precomposed syllable; NFD separates it into components. The spelling stays the same.

Why does 쥁 look different in my font?

A different outline or a missing box comes from font support. 쥁 is ordinary Korean text drawn by the active font. A fallback font can change its outline, or fail to show it, without changing the character.

Unicode treats a Hangul syllable as one grapheme, so line and grapheme breaks should keep the block together. Decomposed jamo are a different stored representation of the same spelling.

Neutral as Korean text; opaque as a one-block message without its surrounding word.

Read a bare 쥁 as Korean writing, not as a reaction.

Is 쥁 an emoji?

No. 쥁 is a Hangul text syllable, not emoji artwork. Read it as Korean writing; its place in a word supplies its reading.

Why does 쥁 show as separate jamo?

Normalization can show a syllable's component jamo separately. NFC recomposes eligible sequences; NFD keeps the components decomposed. The underlying Korean spelling is unchanged.
