What 쥸 means
Read 쥸 as a syllable inside a word.
쥸 is a Hangul block built from initial ㅈ, vowel ㅠ, and final consonant cluster ㄽ. Its place in a Korean word determines what it contributes; the word supplies the meaning.
Hangul’s first recorded announcement dates to 1443; its explanatory work, Hunminjeongeum, appeared in 1446. Hangul offered a way to write Korean speech. Korean texts had used Chinese characters, then came to use Hangul alongside them and on its own. A 2026 study discusses Buddhist text practice, Chinese sound systems, Phags-pa (a Mongolian script), and kugyol (marks for reading Chinese texts in Korean) as possible wider influences on Hangul’s history. That debate concerns the script, not a special origin for 쥸, which is assembled from individual Hangul letters called jamo.
How do I type 쥸?
Use a Korean input method and enter the letters in order.
On the standard Korean two-set keyboard, called Dubeolsik, w b f t enters ㅈ, ㅠ, ㄹ, and ㅅ, producing 쥸. The last two make final cluster ㄽ; stopping at w b f produces 쥴 instead.
Some software stores 쥸 as one block; other software stores its three underlying Hangul letters, ᄌ ᅲ ᆳ. Unicode normalization—the standard process for converting equivalent forms—can combine the sequence into the block or split it apart. Text handling groups the letters as one syllable. Fonts may draw their shapes and spacing differently without changing the character.
Neutral in Korean writing; puzzling as a one-character message without a word around it.
A lone 쥸 does not identify the word; ask for context.

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
