What 쿲 means
It spells one syllable; a word gives it meaning.
The block combines ㅋ as its initial consonant, ㅜ as the vowel, and ㅄ as the final consonant cluster. Unicode’s “kubs” label names that spelling sequence; it is not a translation.
Hangul was designed to make Korean writing easier than using the Chinese-character system then used for Korean. The new alphabet was introduced in a text called Hunminjeongeum in 1443; an explanatory guide followed in 1446. Chinese characters were the earlier writing system used for Korean. A proposed link to the Phags-pa script, another writing system, remains debated.
How do I type 쿲?
Use a Korean input method editor to assemble it.
With a Korean input method editor (IME) active, enter ㅋ, then ㅜ, then ㅂ and ㅅ as the final cluster. On the standard two-set Dubeolsik layout, press z, n, q, t in that order; the IME composes the sequence into 쿲.
