What 쾖 means
It is one syllable in written Korean, not a complete word.
Unicode decomposes it into three Korean letters, called jamo: ᄏ (initial consonant), ᅫ (vowel) and ᆱ (final consonant cluster). Together they spell one syllable.
Why are Hangul letters arranged in blocks?
Each block groups the letters of one syllable.
Hangul was designed for Korean and became a symbol of Korean culture. King Sejong's project aimed to make writing easier to learn: records date its creation to 1443, and its explanatory book Hunminjeongeum was published in 1446. Before Hangul, readers used gugyeol, marks added to Chinese texts to guide Korean readings.
