What 컈 means
By itself, 컈 does not identify a Korean word.
컈 is a single Hangul block and normally appears inside a Korean word. The whole word gives the meaning; this one syllable does not tell you which word or message was intended.
Sent alone, it gives you little to go on. Ask for the surrounding word or sentence instead of guessing at a reaction.
Hangul was designed to write Korean
Hangul is a writing system deliberately created for Korean. Its documented creation dates to 1443; it was publicly introduced in 1446 in Hunminjeongeum, a text explaining the new letters. Earlier, Idu used Chinese characters to write Korean; it was difficult to learn and did not record everyday Korean straightforwardly, especially for people outside the scholarly class.
Korean writing gained official status in government documents during the 1894 reforms. The modern spelling framework followed a unified proposal in 1933 and was partly revised in 1988. 컈 follows Hangul's regular syllable-block system: it combines ㅋ and ㅒ.
How do I type 컈?
Use Korean input; enter ㅋ, then ㅒ. A Korean IME combines the consonant and vowel into 컈. Without Hangul composition, the jamo may remain separate.
Unicode also allows 컈 to be represented by conjoining jamo, the separate Hangul letters in a syllable's stored sequence. Normalize text before exact comparison because the composed and decomposed forms can be encoded differently.
Fonts may place the components with different spacing or proportions. The block's silhouette can shift while it remains the same syllable.
Neutral inside Korean words; alone, it can read like a fragment because a Hangul syllable block normally contributes to a word.
In formal Korean writing, a lone 컈 may look cut off; include the complete word.
