What 콅 means
It has no fixed word meaning by itself.
Unicode splits it into Hangul jamo, the script's component letters: ᄏ begins it, ᅨ is the vowel, and ᆴ is the final cluster.
Why was Hangul created?
To make Korean easier to write.
King Sejong introduced Hangul, then called Hunminjeongeum, in 1443; a book of that name explained its purpose and principles in 1446. Earlier, Korean writing adapted Chinese characters through Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal. Hangul appeared in Buddhist, Confucian, practical, and everyday texts; government records stayed mostly in Chinese characters until its official adoption in 1894. A 2009 paper proposed Phags-pa influence on Hangul's vowels, a disputed link.
