What 쿘 means
A syllable block, not a standalone word.
Within a Korean word or name, 쿘 is one syllable: ㅋ begins it, ㅛ is its vowel, and ㅆ is final batchim (the syllable-ending consonant).
King Sejong created Hangul in 1443 because Korean differed from Chinese and was commonly written with Chinese characters. First called Hunminjeongeum, the alphabet's design was explained in a 1446 book of the same name. Modern spelling follows a 1933 proposal.
