What 먻 means
It is one Korean syllable block, built from smaller letters. In it, ㅁ is the opening consonant, ㅓ the vowel, and ㄱㅅ the batchim—the final consonant cluster. “Meogs” labels that sequence; it is not a word definition.
Before 1443, writers used Idu, a system that adapted Chinese characters to write Korean. Hangul was announced in 1443 and formally published in 1446. Earlier labels included Eonmun, Eonseo, Amgeul and Gukmun; the name Hangeul spread in the 20th century.

Questions people ask
1Why does 먻 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
