What 몴 means
It is a Hangul block, not a word with a fixed meaning.
In this block, ㅁ starts the syllable, ㅗ is its vowel, and ㄽ is the final consonant cluster. “Mols” labels those components; it does not translate a word or message.
What is the origin of Hangul syllable mols?
Hangul's earliest record is from 1443; this block has no separate origin.
The earliest surviving Hangul record dates to 1443; the 1446 Hunminjeongeum, a guide to the new letters, explained their design and purpose. Hangul was created to write Korean speech, which Chinese characters were poorly suited to record, and to help people learn the letters without a teacher.
The writing system is generally called Hangul in South Korea and Chosŏn'gŭl in North Korea. Some older Hangul spellings use sequences of conjoining Jamo—letters that join to form a syllable—instead of a single precomposed block.
Why does 몴 show as separate jamo?
The same Hangul spelling can be stored as a block or as Jamo.
Precomposed Hangul and decomposed Jamo can encode the same text. NFC keeps the block together; NFD exposes its components. Font and application support can affect whether those components appear separately.

Questions people ask
1Why does 몴 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
