What 뭻 means
King Sejong devised Hangul in 1443; a book explaining it appeared in 1446.
It let Korean speakers write their language directly. Earlier systems called Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal adapted Chinese characters to represent Korean. Hangul became the official national writing system in 1894; official documents had previously used mainly Chinese characters.
