What 묙 means
It contributes one syllable sound; the surrounding word or name gives context. “Myog” is the Unicode label, not the Korean pronunciation: say m followed by the “yo” of “yoga,” then close at a k without adding a vowel. “Myok” is a rough English guide.
In Unicode's expanded sequence, the block uses ᄆ, ᅭ, and ᆨ—position-specific forms for the opening consonant, vowel, and closing consonant.
Why does Hangul use syllable blocks?
A block gathers the letters of one spoken syllable. Hangul was created under King Sejong's direction in 1443 and publicly introduced in 1446 through Hunminjeongeum, a book explaining the new script. It was designed to help ordinary people read and write Korean. The book explains how an opening consonant, a vowel, and sometimes a final consonant combine into a syllable; 묙 follows that pattern.
