What 냆 means
냆 is a Hangul syllable block made from three parts.
Hangul letters, called jamo, group into square syllable blocks. Here ㄴ is the initial consonant, ㅐ the vowel, and ㅄ the two-consonant final cluster, or 받침. The Unicode name is a structural label, not an English translation; the syllable’s meaning comes from the Korean word and context it appears in.
Hangul was created in Joseon, a Korean kingdom, to write Korean speech with consonants and vowels that combine into syllable blocks. The National Hangeul Museum dates the earliest record of Hunminjeongeum, the text presenting the alphabet, to 1443 and its publication to 1446. The modern spelling standard followed the 1933 unified-orthography draft, partly revised in 1988.
How do I type 냆?
On a Dubeolsik keyboard, press s, o, q, then t.
Dubeolsik is the standard Korean two-set keyboard layout: those keys enter ㄴ, ㅐ, ㅂ, and ㅅ in order. A Korean input method editor (IME) combines the last two as final ㅄ and builds the syllable block.

Questions people ask
1Why does 냆 look different after normalization?
It can. NFC, Unicode’s composed form, keeps 냆 as one block; NFD, its decomposed form, represents the same syllable as 냆. Apps and fonts can display that sequence differently.

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
