What 늤 means
늤 is a Korean syllable, not a standalone chat reaction.
Hangul writes each syllable as a compact block: ㄴ starts 늤, ㅡ supplies its vowel, and ㅆ closes it. “Neuss” is an identification label for the syllable, not an English translation.
As of 2026, 늤 has no established standalone Korean chat reaction. If it arrives by itself, ask the sender what they meant instead of assigning it an emotion.
Why was Hangul created?
It was designed to write Korean more directly and make literacy easier.
Its creation and publication are dated 1443–1446. Before Hangul, Korean writing used Chinese characters: Hanja refers to those borrowed characters, while Idu, Hyangchal, and Gugyeol adapted them in different ways to write Korean words and grammar.
Hangul appeared in Buddhist texts, letters, and practical writing; in 1894, it became Korea's official national writing system. During Japanese colonial rule, its teaching and public use faced suppression. After liberation, standardization and public education strengthened its place in Korean public life.
How do I type 늤?
Enter ㄴ, ㅡ, then ㅆ; the Korean input method joins them.
A Korean input method editor (IME) composes the letters in consonant-vowel-final order. On Dubeolsik, the standard two-set Korean keyboard layout, press S, M, then ShiftT, respectively.
Outside a composing Korean keyboard, the letters can stay separate. The syllable should render in one cell; a box or blank means the chosen font lacks a usable Hangul glyph, not that the character changed.
Neutral inside Korean writing; alone in chat, it gives too little context to read as a tone.
Don't assign a reaction to a lone 늤 without context.

Questions people ask
1Why does 늤 show as a box?
It can. A missing-glyph box appears when the selected font or app cannot render Hangul here; it does not give 늤 a different meaning.
