Hangul syllable 눾

1599/11172

눾 is one Korean Hangul syllable block, not a picture or chat reaction. It joins the initial consonant ᄂ, vowel ᅰ, and final consonant ᆩ; its meaning comes from the larger Korean word. A Korean 2-set keyboard can compose it from its parts.

What 눾 means

By itself, 눾 is a Korean syllable block, not a fixed message.

Its Unicode decomposition is ᄂ ᅰ ᆩ: the initial consonant, vowel, and final consonant. The syllable gets lexical meaning from the larger Korean word it appears in.

How do I type 눾 as one Hangul block?

Use Korean 2-set input and enter the letters in order.

On the standard 2-set QWERTY layout, type s n p Shift+R: ㅜ ㅔ form ㅞ, and ShiftR supplies final ㄲ. The Korean input method composes them into one block.

If the letters stay separate, check that Korean input and the 2-set layout are active. Other Korean layouts use different keys.

Why does Hangul put letters in blocks?

They group Hangul letters into one syllable-shaped writing unit.

King Sejong's court devised Hangul in 1443; the Hunminjeongeum, a guide to the new script, explained its design in 1446. Hangul offered a learnable, sound-based way to write Korean alongside Chinese-character conventions that had long dominated formal writing.

Earlier Korean writing also adapted Chinese characters to record Korean words and grammar, in methods called Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal. Early Hangul publications included Buddhist scriptures; later works included Confucian texts, practical manuals, letters, and labels. Hangul became Korea's official national writing system in 1894, moving from an accessible script used alongside Chinese characters to the basis of everyday Korean writing.

Technical text: it belongs in Korean writing, language study, or a character test.

Alone, it can read like a typo; the surrounding Korean word gives it meaning.
