What 닄 means
Hangul was devised in 1443 and introduced in a 1446 guide.
Hunminjeongeum, a guide whose title means “Correct Sounds for the Instruction of the People,” explained an alphabet designed to make Korean writing more accessible than Chinese-character methods.
Hangul was used alongside Hanja, the Chinese characters used in Korean writing, for centuries; it became Korea’s official writing system in 1894.
