What 핑 means
A network check, a sharp whizz, or a dizzy spin. In a server context, 핑 names a test of whether a device can be reached over a network; in action writing, it can imitate a projectile’s whizz. In 머리가 핑 돌다 (“my head spins”) or 눈물이 핑 돌다 (“tears well”), it marks a sudden sensation.
King Sejong’s Korean script was created in 1443 to make reading and writing easier; it was proclaimed in 1446 with a guide titled Hunminjeongeum (훈민정음), “Correct Sounds to Teach the People.”

1Why does 핑 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
