What 릖 means
It marks a written syllable; context tells you the word it belongs to.
Hangul blocks arrange letters into written syllables. This character is one such block; read surrounding Korean text to interpret its role in a word.
Where did Hangul come from?
Hangul was designed to make Korean easier to write and learn.
The first surviving record of the new script, Hunminjeongeum, dates to 1443; an explanatory book about it appeared in 1446. The project offered a way to write Korean more accessibly than through the earlier Chinese-character system. Hangul served Buddhist and Confucian texts, practical records, literature, and everyday writing across social groups. It became Korea's official national writing system in 1894; modern spelling conventions trace to a unified-spelling proposal from 1933.
Hangul arranges letters into square syllable blocks. 릖 is one block made by that design.
How do I type 릖?
Enter its component letters in order in a Korean IME.
With a standard Korean two-set keyboard layout, enter ㄹ, ㅡ, ㅣ, ㄴ, ㅎ in that order; the input method composes them into 릖.
If it displays as a box or an odd shape, your font may lack support for this Hangul character. A Korean-capable font may render it properly; the character itself stays the same.
