What 슱 means
It spells one Korean syllable, not a whole word. The block is built from consonant ㅅ, vowel ㅡ and final cluster ㄾ. Hangul's letters are called jamo; the final consonant group is called batchim. A Korean word gives the syllable its role.
Before Hangul, Korean was written with Chinese characters and adaptations such as Idu, Gugyeol and Hyangchal, which were difficult to learn. King Sejong created Hangul in late 1443. The 1446 book Hunminjeongeum (Correct Sounds for Instructing the People) explained the new script; early Hangul publications included Buddhist scriptures and practical books. Hangul became Korea's official writing system in 1894, then lost that status in 1910 under Japanese rule. Those milestones belong to Hangul, not to a special origin for 슱.
How do I type 슱?
Use the South Korean two-set keyboard. In Korean mode, type t m f x: ㅅ ㅡ ㄹ ㅌ. The input method editor (IME) combines final ㄹ ㅌ into cluster ㄾ. On another Korean layout, the physical keys differ, but the jamo order stays the same.
Why does 슱 look different?
Fonts can draw it with different strokes. The encoded Hangul block stays the same even when a font changes its stroke shapes. Unicode's reference glyph is not a mold every font must copy.
Neutral as Hangul spelling material; by itself, it does not make a complete word.

1Why does 슱 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
