What 솺 means
It is a spelling unit, not a pictogram. 솺 has the initial consonant ㅅ, the vowel ㅘ, and the final consonant pair ㅄ. Read it as part of a Korean word. The computer label “Swabs” is generated from those components, not an English definition.
The dates belong to Hangul’s history
Hangul was created as a writing system for Korean. Its original name was Hunminjeongeum. The first record of Hunminjeongeum is dated to 1443; an explanatory book published in 1446 describes the letters’ sounds and design. The name Hangeul appears in records from the early 1910s and became widely used in 1928. These dates trace the writing system and its name, not a first-attestation date for 솺 itself.

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
