What 탙 means
It functions as a syllable inside a word.
Hangul blocks combine an opening consonant, a vowel, and sometimes an ending consonant. 탙 joins ㅌ ㅏ ㅌ; its final ㅌ closes the sound, like a t stopped without releasing it.
Hangul was developed under King Sejong in 1443. Its explanatory guide, the Hunminjeongeum, appeared in 1446 with examples of the new script. Hangul syllable blocks later appeared in manuscripts and movable type, then on typewriters and in digital fonts.
How do I type 탙?
Enter ㅌ, ㅏ, then ㅌ with Hangul composition on.
A Korean input method editor (IME) combines those letters into one block as you type. If they remain separate, make sure Hangul composition is enabled.
Why does 탙 look different in different fonts?
Font spacing changes; the syllable does not.
Hangul typefaces resize and reposition the opening consonant, vowel, and ending consonant inside the block, so 탙 may look tighter, wider, or heavier. A sequence stored as separate jamo may display as separate letters if an app does not shape them into a syllable.
Neutral as a spelling unit; in Korean text, 탙 contributes a syllable within a word.
For blame or cause, use 탓: it ends in ㅅ, while 탙 ends in ㅌ.

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
