What 퉽 means
Three Hangul letters form one syllable.
It groups Hangul jamo (letters): initial ᄐ, vowel ᅰ, and final ᇀ. “Twet” labels them in Latin letters, not as a translation.
Hangul began in 1443 to ease Korean writing; the Hunminjeongeum guide explained its letters in 1446. Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal adapted Chinese characters for Korean. Hangul letters form square blocks that resemble Chinese characters; the letters were not modeled on them. It became Korea’s official writing system in 1894.
Why can 퉽 look split?
Unicode normalization can display its letters separately.
Fonts vary the letters’ size and placement. Unicode’s decomposed form displays jamo apart while preserving an equivalent syllable.
