Hangul Syllable Wih

6944/11172

Enter ㅇ, ㅟ, then ㅎ in a Korean Hangul input method to produce 윟. It is a precomposed block for Korean text, not a pictorial emoji; alone, it has no fixed message.

What 윟 means

Use a Korean Hangul input method: enter ㅇ, ㅟ, then ㅎ.

The 윟 jamo sequence—the Hangul letters that combine into a syllable—is ᄋ ᅱ ᇂ: an initial, a middle vowel, and a final consonant. The initial ᄋ is silent here; ᅱ is the vowel, and ᇂ is the final letter.

On the standard Dubeolsik layout, press d, n, l, g: d enters ㅇ, nl builds ㅟ, and g enters ㅎ. If an app leaves the parts as 윟, Unicode NFC normalization—a standard text-composition step—can join them into 윟 where supported. Font designs can space the parts differently without changing the character.

Does 윟 mean anything by itself?

No fixed standalone message is attached to 윟.

The Hangeul writing system is explained in Hunminjeongeum, a guide published in 1446 that described its letters and principles. Hangeul was designed to represent Korean speech and extend writing beyond the small scholarly elite trained in literary Chinese, the formal written language used by officials and scholars.

Chinese characters remained in official and scholarly use while women in the royal court and Buddhist communities helped Hangeul circulate; by the late Joseon period, Hangeul novels were popular. Each syllable's compact square block follows a layout historically shaped by Chinese-character writing, but its internal parts are Korean letters called jamo.

Why is 윟 a box on my screen?

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
