What 옘 means
Use Korean 2-set: ㅇ ㅖ ㅁ.
On a QWERTY-labelled Korean 2-set layout, press d, ShiftP, then a. With Korean input active, the IME combines those letter components into 옘; otherwise, the keys produce Latin letters.
The components are a starting consonant, a vowel, and an ending consonant, arranged together as one Hangul syllable block.
Is 옘 the same as 염?
No. 옘 uses ㅖ; 염 uses ㅕ.
Only the middle vowel differs, so these are different spellings and syllables. In 염소, the Korean word for “goat,” the first syllable is 염.
What does 옘 mean?
Alone, 옘 has no fixed word meaning.
It is one Hangul syllable block, built from letter components. Its meaning comes from the Korean word or name that contains it.
The key dates are 1443, 1446, and 1894: an early record appears in the Sejong Sillok, a royal chronicle; the explanatory book Hunminjeongeum was published in 1446; and Hangul was recognized as an official national writing system in 1894. These dates mark the script’s history, not a special meaning for 옘.

옘\C618Why is 옘 a box on my screen?
fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
