What 옇 means
옇 is not an emoji. The block has no standalone pictorial meaning. Its useful reading comes from the Korean word around it: 옇다 is a regional form of 넣다, “to put, include, insert,” and 옇구 is used for 넣고, “put in.”
옇 is syllable Lego, not a sticker: initial ㅇ plus medial ㅕ plus final ㅎ. It was not invented for messaging. Hangul’s creation record dates to 1443, and its 1446 explanatory text describes initial, medial, and terminal sounds combining into syllables so Korean speech could be written when Chinese characters did not fit.
The earliest dated example I found for the exact form is in mid-18th-century Andong letters, where 옇다 is identified as regional vocabulary. That ties 옇 to Korean dialect history and to the standard verb 넣다, not to a modern emoji convention. Outside that context, treat a lone 옇 as an unfamiliar text character or possible typo.
How do you type 옇?
Use Korean 2-set input: d, u, then g.
On the standard Dubeolsik layout, d makes ㅇ, u makes ㅕ, and g makes ㅎ; the input method stacks them as 옇. Those Latin letters are keyboard positions, not an English spelling of “yeoh.”
Apple’s macOS Tahoe 26 guide calls this input source “2-Set Korean” and also offers 3-set layouts. If your layout differs, open its keyboard viewer; for a one-off, copy it from the palette above.
Technical and dialect-linked, not a casual reaction glyph.
Alone, it can look like a typo; keep it inside the Korean word you mean.

Questions people ask
1Why does 옇 show as a box?
A missing font glyph. The app or its fallback font lacks Korean coverage; switch to a Korean-capable font or editor. The box is a rendering failure, not a second meaning.
