What 𐘉 means
Its original reading is not securely known.
AB010 is a modern label in the GORILA inventory of Linear A inscriptions, not an ancient word-name. Linear A remains undeciphered, so no sign-by-sign translation is secure. Researchers sometimes compare its signs with the later Linear B script; a borrowed sound value remains a convention unless the relationship is secure.
Linear A's purpose is clearer than AB010's reading: records chiefly track goods and transactions, while offering tables and cult objects carry repeated ritual formulas. The earliest clear attestations fall in Middle Minoan IIA, a phase of Bronze Age Crete, by the end of the nineteenth century BCE. Archanes seals are disputed; they are generally classified as Cretan Hieroglyphic, a separate writing system.
The related scripts remain distinct.
Linear A developed in Crete and spread from an early concentration at Phaistos to other parts of the island and the Aegean. Its last known appearance is on a terracotta figurine from Poros Herakleiou, around 1350 BCE.
Cretan Hieroglyphic overlapped with Linear A in time, and both served administrative purposes; the precise relationship remains uncertain. Linear B came later and shares many sign shapes with Linear A, but their exact relationship is not a simple line of descent. Similar shapes help scholars compare the scripts; they do not make their signs interchangeable.
Scholarly and archaeological in tone; it reads as a reference to Bronze Age writing.
Treat AB010 as an inventory label, not a translated ancient word.

2Why does 𐘉 show as a box?
The active font or renderer has no usable glyph for it. Font files supply the drawing, so an encoded sign can exist even when a device cannot display it. Older or outdated systems may still fail to render Linear A as of 2026.
Can I type 𐘉 from a phone keyboard?
No. iOS and Android have no official built-in hexadecimal Unicode entry method as of 2026.
