Linear B stallion sign

6/123

𐂅 is the Linear B sign for a stallion, a male horse. Mycenaean records used it as an animal label with numerals for counts.

Text symbol

What 𐂅 means

It marked an adult male horse. Linear B served Mycenaean palace administration. The earliest Linear B archive at Knossos is placed in Late Minoan II–IIIA1, a Bronze Age phase on Crete; this dates the archive, not the sign.

On tablet KN Ca 895, it appears with horse labels and numerals. 𐂃 names equids broadly; 𐂄 marks a mare, a separate category.
