Horse

A whole horse, usually drawn in motion. Where 🐴 shows only the head, 🐎 shows the full animal, so it suits riding lessons, stables, equestrian sport and horse-racing chat. Its official name is simply horse; racehorse is a search keyword, not a separate meaning. The image entered Unicode from the emoji sets of Japanese mobile carriers, which already had a whole-horse picture.

Why is 🐎 in New Year greetings in 2026?

Because 2026 is a Year of the Horse. The Chinese zodiac gives each lunar year one of twelve animals, and the horse is seventh; this Horse year began with Lunar New Year on 17 February 2026. Vietnam calls it Bính Ngọ, Korea 병오년, and Japan, which celebrates New Year on 1 January, puts the year's animal on its New Year cards. In this tradition the horse stands for energy, freedom and swift success, as in the Chinese wish 馬到成功, “success the moment the horse arrives”.

Can 🐎 be flirty?

It can, but the conversation decides. In Irish English slang, calling someone “a ride” means they are sexually attractive, so a 🐎 right after praise of someone's looks may carry that wink.
