What ♘ means
It marks the chess knight or a move by that piece.
The piece began as a horse in chaturanga, an Indian board game, and passed into Persian shatranj, an earlier form of chess. In medieval Europe, chess makers increasingly carved it as an armed mounted knight; its leap over other pieces remained its defining move.
That change helps explain the names: English says “knight,” while many languages and chess communities say “horse” or “jumper.” Chinese chess (xiangqi) and Korean janggi call their horse piece ma; Japanese shogi has a distinct, more restricted piece called keima.
What does ♘ mean in a message?
Read it as chess unless the message gives another clue.
After a game position, puzzle, or tournament remark, it identifies the knight or a move by it. In ordinary conversation, it can suggest clever tactics or an indirect approach, but only when the surrounding words make that metaphor clear.
The white design identifies a piece in the conventional chess-symbol set. The message around it supplies any social meaning.
Niche and game-specific; it reads as notation or a deliberate chess reference.
