What ▤ means
Probably fill patterns, but the standard left their meaning unclear. KS X 1001 is Korea’s national character standard. Unicode 18.0 traces the six designs to it and carries them as geometric shapes, not as patterns with fixed values.

1Why does ▤ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
