What 🨮 means
It marks a neutral nightrider, not a standard knight. Fairy chess means chess problems with added pieces or rules. A nightrider repeats the knight's two-square-and-one-square jump in one direction. It can leap over pieces between its landing squares, but a piece on a landing square blocks it; it can capture an opponent there. Neutral means either side may move or capture it.
The chess-problem composer W. S. Andrews invented the nightrider in 1907. Thomas Rayner Dawson first used and named it in fairy-chess problems in 1925. The turned-knight form marks the neutral version of this piece.
Specialist notation for fairy-chess problems.
Do not treat it as a standard knight: it makes repeated knight jumps along one line.
