What 𐀠 means
It spells a consonant-vowel syllable. A syllabogram is a sign for a spoken syllable. “Pi” is this sign’s conventional scholarly transliteration, not a complete word.
Linear B was adapted from Linear A to write Mycenaean Greek, an early form of Greek. Its earliest surviving evidence comes from Knossos, conventionally dated to around 1450 BCE. In Mycenaean spellings, the p-series could represent syllables beginning with p, an aspirated p (a p followed by an extra puff of air), or b.
Why was Linear B used?
It was used mainly for palace recordkeeping. Scribes pressed clay tablets to record goods, people, quantities, places, and offerings.
After the palaces fell, Linear B went out of use. A related syllabary survived on Cyprus, while later Greek was written with alphabets.
Scholarly or decorative; alone, the sign reads as a sample of Linear B rather than an ordinary modern word.
“Pi” is the scholarly transliteration; Greek π is a separate alphabetic character.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𐀠 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
